With work ranging from fi lm, photography, new media, painting and sculpture. the four short listed artists for this year’s prize were selected by a jury chaired by Nigel Walsh, Curator of Exhibitions at Leeds Art Gallery, comprising Greville Worthington, independent curator and art collector; Tom Lubbock, art critic
for The Independent; Ann Gallagher, Head of Collection, British Art, Tate and Turner-prize winner Martin Creed, from a long-list of 24 artists put forward by 12 nominators throughout the region. The Northern Art Prize will be awarded on 17 January 2008 with a fi rst prize of £16,500; the remaining three runners up will each receive £1,500.
